B-Day Drinks and Stuff

I had a drunken moment with myself in the excessively silver bathroom... M, I miss our bathroom pictures at parties.
KITTY!! We wanted to save him.
Drinks at Wetbar at the W hotel. First time there, and it was pretty fun. I strongly recommend the clementine crush (some random drink with all sorts of yummy ingredients. You can taste a lot of ginger...)

Whipped cream

Whipped cream and other delights
Hydrangeas from the garden
I made a carrot cake...
So this album cover is not only a sexually iconic image of the 1970's, but reminds me of my childhood, flipping through my parents old records and always being mesmerized by this particular one.
After a brief shopping trip, I discovered that the stores around me are really embracing this relaxed summer vibe, with lots of white and tan pieces. Outside of my hideous work uniform, that may show up here for laughs, I have abandoned my usual black, black and more black. I think that maybe i'm calming down for once.

brunch dress

my new dress from forever21. I have been searching for a cute floral day dress, and found this treasure at forever21 for $13 yesterday. It fits like a glove surprisingly, so I can't wait to wear it to "drunk brunch" whenever that may be (a day off perhaps??). Drunk brunch basically entails pretending to be classy at brunch by drinking champagne, but really getting tipsy, and spending the rest of the day wandering through parks and making impulse purchases. Yum

Working

Inspiration: Jenni Kayne spring 2009 RTW. Besides the amazing loose yet fitted style of these casual yet chic clothes, I am very into the nude ballet flats, and the shorts with jacket combo. With friday as payday (aka shopping day), I will def. try and work some of this into my new stuff.

La vie en rose

One bed of the vegetable garden. There are two. This one houses endive, heirloom tomatoes and squash.
Cheese plate from sunday night. Manchego, goat cheese, parmesan, stilton, brie and some random one i forget. Got to have the custom cheese knives.
Enjoying the patio with some vino.
Ahhhhh Summer time, and the living is easy.

Weekend

From the Duomo in Firenze.
my inspiration for last night's outfit: Julia Restoin Roitfeld. Wore sheer white button down, cutoffs, layers of bracelets. Pics to come.
My friend came home from Brazil the other night, so her mother threw this great welcome home party that I attended back in L-mont. Her house is on the water, and we were able to see fireworks over the harbor late at night.
Went to a ceremony for my parents 35 wedding anniversary today, and got a little choked up. I took some cool pictures of the church to post later, which featured some of the gorgeous stone work. I think I  need a giant standing candelabra a la the prayer candles above.

Toe Rings

From Littersf, this sweet jewelry design duo. Check out their cool blog: http://www.littermb.com/

I have been thinking about foot jewelry lately a la back in the day when toe rings and ankle bracelets were all the rage. However, I would want stuff that was more vintage than limited too. I like this toe ring above, but i'm still not sure the concept could be pulled off...

Disco Boots

I feel a kindred spirit in these Louboutins. Now I need to search for ones that aren't $1,2900.

Miss You M

Fun times with photo booth, back in the day.
Was introduced to the sweetest game ever last night: One person thinks of a person, and you are trying to figure out who they are thinking of by asking questions about their character. Questions are along the lines of: "If this person was a cocktail, they would be ______", or "If this person was a clothing store, they would be ______".  Colors, who would play them in a movie, etc.

La Bella Donna

Inspiration: Taylor Warren by Ellen Von Unworth.
This shoot reminds me of those awesome Italian films from the 70's, where the women laze about their pallazas, drinking cocktails and chain-smoking to their maid. Suspiria is a great horror film, with heavy eyeliner and dubbing to match.
Also, here is a recipe for Ina Garten's Cosmopolitans:

I captured this masterpiece of graffiti last summer in Italy.
And so it rains again today...

Yes Please

From The Sartorialist, June 2008.
From Rugby, Ralph Lauren.

Despite CT's many annoyances (such as distance to the city, large and unusual bugs), some of the local charm seems to be in full force during the summer (local vegetables, cool summer nights). Of course, my ultimate favorite are men in suits, and young 20-somethings home for the summer, with sea-breeze tans, and topsiders. Ironically, I have never dated a prep (minus one, who was more or less a fling, picnics aside), despite my love for men in seersucker. Riding the train recently has been inspiring, with silver foxes on their blackberries, or reading the Wall Street Journal in perfectly tailored Chuck Bass-esque ensembles. Oh how I do enjoy.
